While I'm not deaf or hard of hearing, I've had a lot of interaction with those who are. I've discovered over the years that the deaf men I've known actually absorb everything we talk about. There is no fake listening, and they haven't forgotten what I said 30 seconds later. I've found that, being a quiet person who has trouble putting things into words right in the moment, people tend to tune me out. However, the deaf men I've known don't do that at all. I love that. It may seem odd to join a website like this for that reason alone, but I like being heard. I enjoy talking with someone who appreciates our communication, even if we're texting, writing notes back and forth, or even attempting to let me learn how to sign.
I hope that my being here isn't offensive or frustrating to those who are looking for only a deaf woman to talk to, but there aren't any other ways that I know of to meet guys in the deaf community.
