I actually pretty hearing-enabled, but it is definitely a big-time hassle hanging out with those with normal hearing. It is draining and anxiety-producing to have to ask everyone to repeat themselves, and to constantly have to be guessing what others are saying. I am becoming rather isolated because it is such a chore to talk to others, both for them and me. I wear hearing aids, but they are only somewhat helpful. I get by OK at work and in society, but I would rather seek a partner on a HOH site, because I want my hearing problem dealt with right off the bat. I am loyal, and very much prefer dating one person at a time. I consider it rude to date more than one person at a time. I find it quite uncomfortable to wonder whether my partner is toying with the idea of hooking up with someone else. I read a lot, think a lot, and write a lot. I'm a deep thinker. I am not into traveling. I have gone to Mexico, Japan and Canada, and don't see any real purpose in traveling, because people seem pretty much to same to me wherever I go; they simply have superficial differences. The human condition is the human condition, and it doesn't change. Conversation and kicking around ideas is very important to me. Simple recreation, such as walks and holding hands is very romantic to me. I have some long-term writing projects, involving commentaries on ethics and consciousness and the human condition. At the same time, I can chatter happily about current events and pop culture. I dress simply and live simply. I understand cultural norms, and can dress up when I need to, but that is not my style. For a couple of years in the 1990s, I was a full-time blackjack player, until I was asked to leave by too many casinos. The glitz of the casinos had no effect on my basic style of living simply and eschewing glamorous trappings. I'm the kind of guy who thinks a simple plain modest wedding ring is so very, very romantic, because it shows that the love is bigger than glitzy diamonds.
