Looking for friends! I am a Deaf, gay, social work student. I have been married for almost two years and loving it. I have two stepkids and two birth kids. They are my world. I plan to graduate in December and my partner soon after with her degree in criminal justice and then forensic photography. I am a huge animal lover and have been blessed with four cats, three hamsters, and fish that we recently had to put in seperate fish tanks as they are breeding like mad. I love all types of music. I have too many favorites to mention. I also have too many favorite videos to mention. I lost my hearing over the holidays last year and went through a shock and grieving period. I am learning to cope now but still struggling trying to get my family to learn sign. My partner has some previous experience so that helps. I hope to be an advocate for either the deaf or gay or both communities. We don't have much of a deaf community here. I have one deaf friend and she lives two hours away but is planning to move to another state. I grew up very christian and converted to LDS in 200 but due to the churches stance my partner and I are both inactive. Our kids are active and attend church with their dad. My adoptive parents are still having a hard time believing I am deaf. I rarely communicate with my mom anymore. I speak so well people forget I am deaf. I have been told I might not be able to get interpreter because I can't read as well as I can sign. And yet I sign fine with my deaf friends. I am eager to conquer this hurdle and see what I can do with my degree. I need support, friendship, something to give me courage and a network in the Deaf community. So, that is why I am here. Not to date as I have my soul mate, but to make lots of friends!
